Hallowine Tasting

dog_wine_vampire_2016We’ve Conjured Up A List of Great Wines This Week for Our Tasting!
Friday, October 28th
5:30 – 7:30
Costumes welcomed.
No clowns please.

With the help of Ian from Vintage Wines, we’ve devised a wicked good wine list for this Friday! Plus, as an added Thriller, we’ll be sampling our new Vodka Infused Whipped Creams and Infused Olive Oils again—in case you missed the last tasting.

Fantini Pinot Grigio
From Molize, Italy, just a 20 hour drive from Dracula’s Castle in Romania (or 4 hours as the bats fly), this dazzling Pinot Grigio has enticing fruit and fresh herb aromas, and a scintillating taste of rich peach and grapefruit. Lemon, lime and a mineral crispness combine with a gentle spicy finish.

MaRostie Chardonnay
This spell-binding Chardonnay is brewed using a blend of Chardonnay grapes from four vineyards on the Sonoma Coast. Each vineyard brings its own delicious layer to the blend—you know, eye-of-newt, blind worm’s sting and all that good stuff. 90 pts. in Wine Enthusiast.

Ravenswood Besieged Red Blend
A perfect wine for the All Hallow’s Eve celebration, this red blend has dark, rich, full flavors that ignite your senses with blackberry, black cherry, and baking spices. Quoth the Raven “You’ll want several bottles of this delicious, smooth and satisfying wine in your cellar.” Blend of Petite Sirah, Carignane, Zinfandel, Syrah, Alicante Bouschet, Barbera

Predator Zinfandel
The grapes in these vineyards are protected by frightening predators—thus, the name! Well, that’s if you’re afraid of Ladybugs. Predator Zinfandel is sourced from 50+year old vines that produce rich and intensely flavored fruit. The resulting wine is big and bold with hallmark “old vine” velvety texture, spice and vibrant varietal flavors. Ladybugs are used as a source of “Natural Predation” to keep harmful insects from damaging the fruit. Don’t be afraid, the bottle’s not even scary looking.

Twists & Treats Wine Tasting

dog_wine_leavesJoin Us Tonight To Try Some New Treats!

October 14th, from 5:30-7:30

We know it’s not Halloween yet, but we’ve got some fun new treats to try at wine tonight including a super good red blend that’s aged in bourbon whiskey barrels, and some wines from the Biltmore Estate. But that’s not all! We’ve got another little treat for those who love whipped cream and/or Vodka too!

Biltmore Estate White Blend
This bright and fragrant blend of Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc bring together flavors of citrus and honey tinged with mineral. You’ll want to be sure to have this around for Thanksgiving!

Hook & Ladder Chardonnay
This pale straw colored Chardonnay leads off with a rich bouquet of apple-butter, honey suckle, lime blossom and notes of lemon candy, which is closely followed by a full mouth of golden delicious apple, citrus, and pear flavors. Hints of lemon and lime compliment the long toasted butter finish from the French oak barrel aging.

Biltmore Estate Red Blend
A delicious blend of Sangiovese, Merlot, and Zinfandel come together to create a medium-bodied, fruit-forward wine with richly layered aromas and a lingering finish. A great wine to have around for the Holidays, or to give as a gift!

Cooper & Thief Red Blend
This dark and jammy red blend is loaded with bourbon-inspired flavors and aromas. Aging for three months in ex-bourbon barrels gives way to soft velvety tannins, with a subtle heat. The combined result is a rich flavor with a long, lingering finish. Get this while you can! The difficulty obtaining the bourbon barrels means this is a small production wine that won’t be around long!

And for an extra treat…
Liquor Whipped Vodka Infused Whipped Cream
Don’t miss trying these awesome caramel and chocolate flavored whipped creams infused with Vodka! Great fun for desserts, specialty mixed drinks, or out of the can, you’ll definitely want some of this around for your Holiday parties!

Friday, September 16th, 5:30 – 7:30

Villa Wolf Gewürztraminer
You can’t talk about fall wines without a good German Oktoberfest Gewürztraminer! This wine is clean, fruity and wonderfully light on its feet, showing off the aromatic charm of the variety without being heavy. It has a deliciously juicy texture and a delightfully delicate aroma of spice and fresh roses.

Bonnie Doon “Gravitas”
Gravitas is a white Bordeaux-style blend with a small splash of Orange Muscat (2.5 percent) that lends a floral note. The majority of the blend is Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc. The wine has a soft, round, approachable style with emphasis on the fig and melon character of the Semillon. The Sauvignon delivers aromas of grapefruit and citrus as well to add a bit of minerality.

R Collection Red Blend
This easy-drinking red blend is a lovely crimson in the glass with aromas of dark cherry, star anise and a hint of white pepper followed by flavors of strawberry and raspberry. Medium bodied and well-balanced, the velvety mouthfeel culminates with a lengthy, satisfying finish.

La Flor Cabernet
This Cabernet has excellent ruby color with spicy aromas and jam notes that show its complexity. Aged 30% in oak you get slight hints of tobacco with a round palate and soft tannins.
